We get estate items from the most interesting places on Cape Ann. The person who sold us our last batch of goods claims the house he lives in is reputed to be one of the most haunted places in Gloucester MA!
It has a small private cemetery in back of it.
Coincidentally the Pine St location is also one of the oldest homes in Gloucester!
The treasures from this home are only a small portion of what we’ll have in the next auction.
The auction date isn’t set yet, but here are a few pictures of the pick.
9am-3pm – No early birds
82 Main St. (the new location of Cape Ann Auction)
This is a question have been asked many times over the past few months. I’ve taken over the former location of Bodin Historic Photo and Fine Art at 82 Main St. in Gloucester, MA 01930, so I anticipate getting asked about it a lot more.
Fred was greatly endeared to the Gloucester community as a friend a shopkeep and historian. Naturally there is a huge demand for pieces of his collection. His historic assemblage consisted mainly of the following categories. They were:
So what happened to it all?!
The last two mediums on the list above, can be found at Cape Ann Auction’s new location. This is as mentioned above, 82 Main St., Gloucester, MA (previously the home Fred Bodin’s Historic Photos itself).
I purchased these items from the buyer of the antique photographic collection.
The antique glass negatives and all the historic photography etc. products, items etc were purchased by Mr. Will Seippel of Worthpoint Inc.
Worthpoint if an online antiques & collectibles evaluation company. Mr Seippel purchased the collection as an investment and has indicated a strong interest in helping the Cape Ann Museum get digital copies of the images they want.
This appears to be a win-win for all.
How can you get some of these treasures?
Mr. Seippel will be making the collection available on eBay as time sees fit. If you’d like to see what he has posted, you can find him on eBay as wills1n4

Cape Ann Auction has been contracted to sell the contents of an exceptional & unusual New York storage unit. The unit belonged to the deceased and renown scientist Stanley Whitehair.
Professor Whitehair excelled in the field of microwave technology and held patents in this field, but had an extensive well-rounded career. Here are some of the highlights: He passed at age 52 due to heart failure.
Stanley J. Whitehair (BS ’80, MS ’82, PhD ’86 Elec Egr),
Whitehair’s career as a research scientist included working at NASA, IBM, Cober Electronics, Aria Microwave Systems, teaching in several academic departments, and consulting with private clients.
He had 26 patents and was the author of numerous publications. Whitehair was never presented with a technical problem he could not solve or a broken device he could not fix. Who else could have pasteurized an egg without cooking it?
The unit in New York is climate controlled. Nearly all the items in it, appear to fall into one of two condition categories: new & like new (at least to this untrained person)
This is perhaps the most challenging question to address. There are hundreds of items, if you count items as small as valves etc, there are thousands of items.
